As a second-generation woman of color, Zaynah is passionate about working with those from various diverse backgrounds, invested in uplifting the needs of clients that come from traditionally underserved cultural communities.
Zaynah’s clinical approach is integrative and holistic, meeting the client where they are from a non-judgmental and warm perspective. She primarily works from a relational psychodynamic and trauma-focused lens, working to understand the ways in which our relationship to ourselves and others have molded our worldview. Zaynah’s therapeutic style is dynamic, drawing from modalities that may benefit clients and their unique needs. She strongly believes in a collaborative approach to strive towards an environment of commitment and dedication to one’s goals.
Zaynah has extensive experience working with clients from multicultural backgrounds, and has a special interest in working with young adults dealing with stressors related to transition and adjustment to life changes. She strives to offer a safe space and support to those struggling with intergenerational stressors, as challenges embedded in relationships and families can be difficult to overcome. She works with her clients to build healthy relationships, both with themselves and others. Zaynah also has considerable experience and strengths in spiritually-integrated holistic psychotherapy, incorporating values you hold into your therapeutic needs and goals.
Zaynah received her Master of Education in Community Counseling from Loyola University Chicago and is currently licensed in the State of Illinois as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Zaynah’s graduate training took place at a college wellness center, working with adolescents and adults in several areas, including depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship, and family problems, as well as other stressors and mental health concerns. She began her career working for a community mental health center, collaborating with clients seeking to meet their goals from a spiritually-integrated approach. Prior to her clinical training, Zaynah graduated with her Bachelor’s degree from Loyola University Chicago, with a BS in Neuroscience and a BS in Psychology.
Born and raised in the Chicagoland area, Zaynah currently practices from her home in Florida and sees residents in IL via tele-health. Along with her clinical work, she is active in her local community, and pursues her hobbies in pottery and other creative endeavors.
